Cookie Policy

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small data files that a website or service places on a browser or device. They can support functions such as maintaining a secure session, remembering preferences, measuring website use, preventing abuse, or selecting content. A cookie may be set by the website you visit directly or by a third party whose technology is loaded by that website.

Other technologies can perform related functions. Browser local storage keeps a value on the device without using a traditional cookie. Pixels and tags can record that content was loaded or an action occurred. Server logs may record requests for security, delivery, and diagnostics. In this policy, “technologies” refers collectively to these tools where the distinction is not material.

2. Technologies in the delivered design

The website design delivered for Rathbone PropCo uses browser local storage to remember whether a visitor selected the light or dark visual theme. The stored key is intended to contain only the chosen theme value. It is not designed to identify the visitor or follow activity across unrelated websites.

The design also loads font resources and the Lenis smooth-scrolling library through content delivery services. Those providers may receive ordinary technical request information, such as IP address, browser information, requested resource, and timestamp, to deliver and secure their resources. The design does not intentionally configure Lenis to set an advertising cookie.

The demonstration inquiry form performs validation within the visitor’s browser and does not transmit or store the fields. Connecting that form to a service can introduce additional technologies and information flows. The store owner must assess and disclose those changes before activation.

3. Shopify and store configuration

A live store runs on Shopify infrastructure. Shopify may use technologies that are necessary for storefront delivery, security, network routing, fraud prevention, accessibility, language or region settings, and other platform functions. The exact technologies can vary based on the Shopify plan, enabled capabilities, visitor actions, and platform updates.

Installed Shopify applications, embedded media, analytics services, advertising tools, chat services, and other integrations may add their own cookies or similar technologies. Rathbone PropCo should maintain an inventory of installed applications and review the storefront with appropriate scanning and consent tools before publication and after any material configuration change.

5. First-party and third-party technologies

A first-party technology is associated with the domain shown in the browser address bar. A third-party technology is associated with a different provider, for example a platform, font host, analytics provider, embedded-content provider, or advertising service. Third parties determine aspects of their own processing under their policies and contractual commitments.

Use of a third-party technology should be limited to a defined business purpose and reviewed for privacy, security, retention, data-location, and consent implications. A reference in this policy does not endorse or guarantee a third party’s independent practices.

6. Duration

Session cookies generally expire when the relevant browser session ends. Persistent cookies or local-storage values remain until a stated expiration, deletion by the setting party, removal through browser controls, or replacement by a new value. Security logs and analytics records may have separate retention periods controlled by the relevant provider or store configuration.

The light-or-dark preference in this design remains in local storage until the visitor clears site data, uses a browser profile that does not retain it, or the website changes the stored value. The design does not impose a separate expiration on that preference.

7. Managing your choices

Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and site data. Controls are commonly located in privacy, security, or site-permission settings. You may also be able to block third-party cookies, clear data for one website, use a private browsing mode, or configure automatic deletion.

Blocking all technologies can affect functions that rely on session continuity, security controls, preferences, or other requested features. Clearing the local-storage value used by this design will reset the saved theme preference but should not prevent basic page access.

If a consent interface is added to the live store, visitors should be able to revisit their choices through a consistently available control. Withdrawing consent should be as practical as granting it, and nonessential technologies should respond to the choice as required by applicable law.

8. Global Privacy Control and other signals

Some browsers or extensions can send privacy preference signals, including Global Privacy Control. Legal requirements concerning recognized signals depend on the visitor’s jurisdiction, the business’s activities and thresholds, and the relevant processing. If the live store engages in processing that is subject to a recognized opt-out signal, the storefront must be configured to detect and honor it as required.

The delivered design does not include targeted advertising or a sale-of-data workflow. That statement must be reassessed if advertising pixels, audience tools, data-sharing applications, or similar functionality are later installed.

9. Analytics and measurement

Analytics can be configured in privacy-preserving or more identifiable ways. Relevant settings may include IP handling, user identifiers, cross-device features, advertising integration, retention periods, and access permissions. Rathbone PropCo should enable only the measurement reasonably needed, document the configuration, and avoid collecting sensitive information through page URLs, form fields, event names, or free-text parameters.

No analytics provider is intentionally hard-coded into the delivered custom sections. Shopify or the active theme may nevertheless include platform measurement or scripts outside these sections. The complete live page should be reviewed, not only the code delivered in this package.

10. Updates to this policy

This policy may be updated when the website, Shopify configuration, provider list, purposes, or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. If a change materially affects choices or previously collected information, notice and consent will be handled as required by applicable law.

Before adding a new application or tracking tool, the store owner should identify what it sets or reads, why it is needed, who receives data, how long the data persists, and what control a visitor must receive. The policy should be updated at the same time as the technical change, not afterward.
